About Us

Kinaki has it’s beginning with Robin Smaill. Robin designed the first Kinaki water trough and had a steel mould fabricated. The first products were used on Reichenau Farm in Underberg, a farm leased by him, but his neighbours soon wanted.  Delivery was a problem so a break neck trailer was built and then a bakkie modified with a sliding and tipping deck. Delivery to site of 2 troughs was then a one man job. Today most Kinaki troughs are delivered to the farm yard by the truck load. The product was so successful that they were  franchised.  Other Kinaki products were also developed because there was a need.

Robin has a degree in agriculture but concrete changed from a hobby to a job and he now  works full time with concrete. This has resulted in the development of the dairy feed bin, the silage bin and the sheep trough. A horse trough holding 70 litres is being developed.
