A side view of some Kinaki dairy feed bins in a herring bone shed.

The dairy feed bin is a concrete vessel in which  concentrates are fed to dairy cows in a herringbone dairy shed.  It replaces the brick structures which cows demolish over time or the steel ones that rust.  Brick structures do not cope with lateral forces and the feed environment is acidic which is not good for steel.  Each cow has their own enclosure to reduce stealing and the pallets come in through a hole in the back wall.

Inlet:                There is a 90mm diameter hole entering at 45 degrees in the back wall. There are cast in nuts with which to secure brackets to hold the feed pipe in place.

Conveyor        There are cast in nuts to bolt a support structure to carry a feed conveyor.

Lifting:            There are 3 lifting points in the base of the bin but most often a strap through the inlet hole allows mechanical lifting.
